TERMS & CONDITIONS
The rules for using this website and taking part in our competitions.
Last updated: August 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using this website or submitting a registration or enquiry, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, the school you represent.
2. About the competitions
Masterminds Africa runs intellectual and academic competitions including debate, quiz, public speaking, spelling bee, poetry and moot court. Dates, venues, formats and eligibility are confirmed in each event announcement.
3. Registration
Registration is a request to take part and is only confirmed once our team responds in writing.
The information you submit must be accurate and complete. We may decline or cancel a registration containing false information.
Schools are responsible for the consent, supervision, travel and welfare of their participants.
4. Fees
Where a competition carries a participation fee, the amount, deadline and refund terms are stated in that event's announcement. No payment is ever collected through this website unless we say so explicitly.
5. Conduct
Participants, coaches and supporters must behave respectfully towards other competitors, adjudicators, staff and venues.
Cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, abuse or intimidation may lead to disqualification and exclusion from future events.
6. Adjudication and results
Adjudicators are appointed by us and their decisions are final unless a formal appeal process is published for that competition.
Rankings shown on this site are marked clearly where they are placeholders. Verified results are published after a competition concludes and may be corrected if an error is found.
7. Changes and cancellation
We may reschedule, relocate or cancel an event where circumstances require it, and will notify registered schools as soon as possible.
8. Media and intellectual property
The Masterminds Africa name, emblem, wordmark and site content belong to us and may not be reproduced commercially without written permission.
By taking part, schools grant us permission to publish photographs, video and results from the competitions, subject to the exclusions described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Website use
You may not attempt to disrupt this website, gain unauthorised access to the administration portal, or submit misleading or abusive content through our forms.
10. Limitation of liability
We take reasonable care in running our competitions and this website, but we are not liable for indirect loss, or for loss arising from information supplied by third parties or from a school's own arrangements such as travel and accommodation.
11. Privacy
Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@mastermindsafrica.org.
